The Success of Stanford Wong in the Blackjack Industry

Stanford Wong is known as one of the best professional blackjack players in the world. He has been famously known as Stanford Wong, but actually, such name is only a pseudonym. He, however, does not hide his true identity. His real name is John Ferguson and he was born in 1943.

He was a graduate of Stanford University, and that was where he got the first name of his pseudonym. The surname Wong was actually inspired by an Asian name. It was his friend in graduate school who gave him his pen name.

As a child, Stanford Wong had always been very analytical. At the age of six years old, he became hooked in playing tic tac toe with his friends. He never experienced losing a game of tic tac toe merely because even as a young child, he was already fond of concocting strategies. With regard to the game of tic tac toe, it was his passion to come up with strategies to win such game.

The first time that Stanford Wong learned about blackjack was when he was only twelve years old. It was in 1964 when Stanford Wong started gambling as a profession. He was still a student then of Stanford University. It was also in Stanford where he obtained his Ph.D. degree in statistics. He served as a professor of Stanford right after obtaining his degree, but it was never a hindrance to his dream of becoming a professional blackjack player.

The ability of this blackjack player to analyze allowed him to determine the ins and outs of blackjack. There even came a time when he decided to come up with a technique that involved four-deck blackjack games. Such technique is included in the book "Professional Blackjack," the first book of this blackjack player that was released in 1975. Up until now, such book is recognized as "the bible of blackjack."

Because of his exceptional analytical skills, Stanford Wong is not only known to be one of the best blackjack players. He is also generally known as one of the best professional gamblers. This can be proven with the fact that he has written not only books that focus on blackjack, but also books that discuss other types of casino games.
