Blackjack Robin Hood Out To Help Families In Need

An anonymous high-stakes blackjack professional player is drawing public attention due to an unusual move: he is out to use his gambling skills to help out a family in dire need of financial assistance.

"Robin Hood" says that he is giving families until September 15 to enter video submissions to his website, plead for their case and say why they deserve to be the recipient of this good deed. So far he has had over 300 entries, but the Blackjack shark says he has not decided on which family to grant his winnings to yet.

"I have some people in mind," "Robin Hood" says, "but I'm not sure I've found the perfect family yet."

This Blackjack player is well-known in the Las Vegas casino circuit, however, he would like to keep his true identity under wraps so that the focus can remain on the charitable act, and not on him.

His website is www.Robinhood702.com, a URL owed to the legend Robin Hood who takes from the rich to give to the poor, and 702 - his Las Vegas area code.

The blackjack player lets on that his ideal family to receive the charity should have done the best they could to make something out of their lives but had just been victims of circumstance. They should owe creditors at least $25,000 but not exceeding $50,000. Once the family is chosen, "Robin Hood" says he will sponsor their trip to Las Vegas to enjoy the kind of lifestyle he often leads being a professional card player.

"I'm gonna transform their lives for a weekend" "Robin Hood" said. "Take them away from their normal everyday life and problems ... get them manicures, pedicures, facials, massages, get their hair done at one of the leading spas in town and take them to some of the most incredible shows Vegas is known for."

The Blackjack player says that through this act of generosity, he would like to shed some light on the perception of gambling, and prove that it could be used to do good.

"I just want to provide hope that a good day is coming down the line. It may not be tomorrow or the next week, but there's hope it could be there and I want to give that hope," he says. "I want to create a movement where other people are touched by this... stockbrokers, futures traders, doctors, lawyers... whatever their niche in life is, I want them to be touched and say you know what, I want to make a difference too. If this little gambler guy can do it, why can't I?"

He is quick to point out however, that he is not advising people in debt to resort to gambling. "I'm not telling anyone to go gamble to win their house back…All I'm saying is I want to do this because this is what I'm good at."
